Polymicrogyria- A Case Report

چکیده
Introduction-Polymicrogyria is a malformation of cortical development in which the process normal cerebral disturbed late stage neuronal migration. Deeper layers cortex develop abnormally and multiple small gyri form within cortex. Polymicrogyria (PMG) characterized by supernumerary, with abnormal lamination. Malformations (MCD) comprise large group disorders resulting from defects formation that involve all major stages including neurogenesis, migration, postmigrational development. Case report- During routine dissection department anatomy ,Gauhati Medical College & Hospital Gauhati, we found specimen brain extra other than anatomical gyri. They are lobes frontal near sylvian fissure below inferior gyri, parietal lobes, occipital temporal .There places where have some fused sulci . Conclusion- From above case report can come to diagnosis delayed mental as well cause seizure episodes patients when there be no predisposing etiological factors presence structural changes. Key words- malformations, migrations, defects, mental, seizure, gyria.

Cerebral polymicrogyria : case report
Introduction Disruption of the major steps of the cerebral cortical development – cell proliferation/apoptosis, neuronal migration and cortical organization, result in a group of disorders called malformations of cortical development [1–4]. They are frequently associated with the presence of grossly unusual cortical gyri. With the improvement of modern imaging techniques this malformations have...
متن کاملHemimegalencephaly with polymicrogyria – a case report
Hemimegalencephaly on magnetic resonance imaging scan (MRI) consists of cortical gray matter almost uniformly abnormal, areas of increased thickness of the cortical gray matter (GM), abnormal gyral patterns, blurring of the grey-white matter transition, atrophy or hemispheric hypertrophy, demyelination, gliosis. We present a case of ten-year-old boy with a history of infantile spasms and develo...
متن کاملBilateral Frontal Polymicrogyria - An Autopsy Case Report -
Polymicrogyria, which is characterized by an excessive number of small gyri with abnormal cortical lamination, is a common malformation of cerebral cortical development. The incidence of polymicrogyria is unknown. The diagnosis of polymicrogyria is being made more frequently due to advances in magnetic resonance imaging. Several region-specific bilateral polymicrogyria syndromes have been descr...
متن کاملA case of schizencephaly with polymicrogyria.
A case of extensive bilateral frontotemporal schizencephaly is alleged - more extensively in the left hemisphere - which associated with polymicrogyria. The cortical anomaly was discovered only incidentally by MR examination in a 22 year-old man who suffered from headache due to a mild head trauma. Neurological examination proved to be negative. He had no complaints or symptoms a few weeks late...
متن کاملTuberous sclerosis complex with unilateral perisylvian polymicrogyria and contralateral hippocampal sclerosis—A case report
Malformations of cortical development (MCD) encompass a wide spectrum of brain disorders. Although rare, the combination of certain MCD may occur. We report a rare case of combination of three distinct cerebral pathologies: tuberous sclerosis, polymicrogyria and hippocampal sclerosis in a patient with intractable epilepsy. Ictal EEG and ictal SPECT suggested right perisylvian area as a seizure ...
